General Bloggage

Hi! I'm Rachael, a Graphic Design student at the University of Salford. This is mainly a blog of my uni work, but also whatever else takes my fancy....
HOT PIE
Most people won’t be aware of the reason why I keep mentioning Hot Pie. It is a joke that goes back a few months relating to some packaging at a certain supermarket where I work. ANYWAY I have adopted this little phrase, and the other morning (3a.m to be precise) I couldnt sleep and decided to throw this together as a bit of fun. Certainly made me giggle.

I will add….I think the whole thing mayyyyyyy be a little off-centre. But it was 3 in the morning so i’ll let myself off.

SELF PROMO ITEM:

This is my final self promo item…a box of pins. There is a point to it though (ha!) The pin with the purple diamante head represents me as ‘One in a Million’. Also, its a useful object to receive.

I will make a series of these though, unfortunately I ran out of time to make them all. I wanted to make one with beads (like pictured previously in the project) and one with something edible like hundreds and thousands decorations and ‘Millions’ sweets. That way I can send a new one every week until I get a response.

CV:
I designed my CV following the same style as everything else. I rushed this quite a lot so I think it could be better but for an hour’s work its not too bad. I included my covering letter at the top of it. Maybe I will make a separate one if this is the done thing, but for now it can stay like this.

POSTCARD DESIGNS:

I made a series of 3 postcards to accompany the business cards and self promo item. Again I have continued the branding with my logos and the pattern to keep some continuity. I would maybe send one out at a time so they get something different each time.

Final Business Card designs:

Top = BackBottom = Front
(Yes i know that doesn’t make sense…should be the other way round…)I combined the two logo designs into one, which I think works really well here for the front of the card. I have added in the ‘graphic designer’ part to make it clearer what I do. On the back I used my pattern which I made using my logo shape. This pattern appears throughout the project so its nice for continuing the branding.

FINAL BOX JACKET:
This is the final design for the covering of my box. I have used both logos and kept it really simple so as not to over complicate the design, as it is only a small surface area. I really like the way it turned out.

FINAL LOGOS:

This is my final personal logo design, which I simplified back down to just my initials. I think it looks much stronger that way. I also made a typographic logo for my ‘One in a Million’ concept which I can use to brand my objects and business cards.

Something that made me smile during this stressy week

One In A Million:
Possible business card idea…or maybe just a little something extra to hand out as well as the box and the postcards. I liked the fact that the shape I made using my logo looked a bit like a rosette so I added the ribbon shapes and some copy to see what it would look like. I think they’re quite nice.

One In A Million:
More experimentation with the design for the box jacket. I prefer the simpler logo, but I’m not sure about the One In A Million design on the bottom. More to be done…
